Soap Ingredients

Some people want to know if my soaps are “all natural”.

They’re as natural as I can make it.  I don’t add anything extra not listed on the ingredients list.

One note however, if the ingredients say “Lye”, that means lye was used in making the soap.  It doesn’t mean the lye is still around in its original form.

The soap making process changes the oils and lye into soap and glycerine.  I leave all the natural glycerine in the soap.  Many commercial soap manufacturers will remove the glycerine and sell it separately or use it in their lotions and creams.

And just because a bar of soap you've purchased doesn't specifically say "Lye", manufacturers also use "Sodium Hydroxide" (chemical name of Lye); or "saponified xxxxxxx oils".
